Course description
Teams page
The course has an associated team in the institutional Microsoft Teams, for which the access code will be distributed to registered students via the Neptun system. We communicate via Neptun and Teams, and you can access most resources (lecture notes, homeworks) there.

The course will mainly follow the following textbook: A. Rex: Finn's Thermal Physics (3rd Ed.), CRC Press, 2017
Supplementary lecture notes for topics not covered in the book will be provided on Teams

Course requirements
Homework
After each exercise class, solution to selected problems can be submitted at the next exercise class for bonus points. There is no way to submit missed homeworks later.
Written exams during semester
The course will feature two complex exams, involving both theoretical and problem-solving questions, during the semester. The dates of the two exams are:

Exam 1: April 2, Wed., 8:15 - 10:00, in K150

Exam 2: May 21, Wed., 8:15 - 10:00, in K150
There is a re-take exam scheduled for Wednesday, May 28.
Conditions for signature
Passing the problem-solving part of both exams (threshold: 40%).
Grading

Students who also pass the theory part of both exams (threshold: 40%) qualify for a passing grade (2).

Students who score above 70% on both parts of both exams qualify for a satisfactory grade (3)

Students can improve their grades with bonus points obtained for handing in homework problems.

Students wishing to further improve their grade, or obtain the mark 'excellent' (5) must take an oral exam during the exam period.
Oral exam
Students get two topics to report on and will have 30 minutes to prepare. The topics of the exam will overlap with the material covered in the lectures. A list of exam questions will be published after the last lecture.
